Top 10 Famous Americans

So, today I was reading in the Smithsonian magazine an article. Some people took a survey of 11th and 12th grade students asking them to list who they thought were the top 10 most famous Americans excluding Presidents and their wives. They thought they would pick people like: Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. To their surprise they did not. This is the results from the article:
1. Martin Luther King Jr.
2. Rosa Parks
3. Harriet Tubman
4. Susan B. Anthony
5. Benjamin Franklin
6. Amelia Earhart
7. Oprah Winfrey
8. Marilyn Monroe
9. Thomas Edison
10. Albert Einstein

Well, I was curious so today I was at a middle school. I asked two classes to write down their top ten. One class was 6th graders and the other was 7th and 8th graders. Here is what they picked:
6th graders:
1. George Lopez
2. Miley Cyrus
3. Tupac
4. Chris Brown
5. Easy E
6. Rosa Parks
7. Martin Luther King Jr.
8. Usher
9. Britney Spears
10. was a tie between Jennifer Lopez, the Game, Selena, Daddy Yankee and Fergie

7th and 8th Graders:
1. Cesar Chavez
2. Miley Cyrus
3. Lewis and Clark
4. Micheal Jackson
5. Oprah
6. Martin Luther King Jr.
7. Janet Jackson
8. Clara Barton
9. Britney Spears
10. Nicholas Cage

Very interesting......

Oh and today I was accepted into the credential program at CSUDH!
