a wise man once said....
In this sad world of ours, sorrow comes to all,
and it often comes with bitter agony.
Perfect relief is not possible,
except with time.
You cannot now believe that you will ever feel better.
But this is not true.
You are sure to be happy again.
Knowing this,
truly believing it,
will make you less miserable now.
I have had enough experience to make this statement.
Abraham Lincoln
Today in History
1863 - Lincoln traveled to Gettysburg to give a "short speech"
1928 - Mickey Mouse debuts
1966 - Sandy Koufax retires

I believe
So, I was watching this video this morning and I looked up at the TV and they were showing images of destruction from the fires. It was a moment, I wanted to share.
Have a great day!

Are you a joy, testy, foe, or far?
So, I am home from a great weekend in Murrieta Hot Springs. It was so relaxing and I am glad I was able to go. The place was so beautiful. We spent time in the jacuzzi and got to see 9 women get baptized. We also hung out in the hot springs. We relaxed and got to know each other. We also learned about how to love well. We learned that there are 4 types of people we are called to love: Joy, Testy, Foe or Far. I think its pretty self explanatory. It was really enlightening and emotional.
Well I think we are going to go visit Grandma for a while. She is not doing well. They set up hospice in her home. It is a hard thing to go through but I know there must be a reason for it. I will be happy to learn that reason one day. I know that I will be ok, sad but ok.
I hope you all had a nice weekend and that everyone is ok regarding the fires.
PS - Thank you for the poetry.

I have no title.
So, I am off for the weekend tomorrow. I am going to a women's retreat with my church. My grandma is in the hospital and I am worried about her. I fear that she doesnt have much time left. I love her very much. I hope that I will be able to relax and enjoy this weekend.
On another note, I am talking to someone new and he makes me smile.
And to him, I say sweet dreams.

Veteran's Day
So, I started tutoring last night, two fifth graders. It went well. I hope it continues to go well. The mom put a little whiteboard up in the kitchen for me. I feel like I havent been to school is so long. Last week, I didnt go to school because of the viewing and this week we have off for Veteran's Day. I am just about all caught up in my school work also. I have one big project to do. It is an inquiry project. We have to use students to research something. I picked something. I wanted to ask the students about homework. Why they think the teachers give it to them and why they dont turn it in, etc. But my professor said that is not good. Then I looked at the list of sample questions and there it was. My question was on the list of sample questions. I emailed him back and told him but he said that that sample question was not a good example! I already made my survey and "piloted" it, like I am supposed to.
So now I have to start all over. Sucks.
Today is Veteran's Day. Take some time to think about the soldiers who fought for us.
Today in History:
1918 - WWI ends.
1921 - The Tomb of the Unknowns is dedicated
1942 - The draft age is lowered to 18.

Support Group
So, I am thinking about starting up a support group for women and girls who have lost their mothers. I am working it out in my head. I figure we meet and discuss the issues that we face:
Important events without our moms
Dealing with dads
Dads dating
Sibilings
Taking new roles.
Things like that and use each other for support. We talk about memories of our moms and we do fun things also and most importantly we are there for each other when we need it.
I dont have a name yet. Typically these groups are called "Motherless Daughters" but I dont like that name. I have a mother, she is just no longer physically here. If you have an idea let me know.
